Mostly Sunny – Damn the Weather

Kipnik and my friend from Japan wanted to place with good food and good drinks. Now, I don’t know much about drinks myself, but I do know good food and places they say are good for drinks. Damn The Weather, a craft cocktail bar in Pioneer Square fit the bill. So on a rainy Friday night, we found ourselves into a relatively small bar with golden light flooding the room. The chatter at a lively din, we had arrived just in time for happy hour.

Damn the Weather - Pimm's Cup

Pimm’s Cup – they’re known for their craft cocktails; I have no idea what makes a good cocktail, but my sister liked this one and it’s not as sweet as ones I’ve had in the past, more of a bite

damn the weather - pork sliders

pork sliders – flavorful, bite sized

damn the weather - salmon belini

salmon belini -lox on some sort of soft chewy bread, with a balsamic reduction – such a huge miss on the flavors and the textures; not sure why it’s named after a drink

damn the weather - pappardelle with pork sugo

pappardelle with pork sugo – the dish we liked the best, lots of cheese, lots of meat, flavorful and hearty

Damn the Weather - fried chicken skins

fried chicken skins – one of their signature dishes, served with lime and chilli flakes, reminded me of pork cracklings, except a little less greasy and lighter; good, but we didn’t need a bowl this large for 3 of us

Damn the Weather - chicken fat fries

chicken fat fries – served with aioli, a fluffy fatter version of the perfect French fry – like steak fries, except fluffier on the inside with a hint of savoriness, wish we had more of these!

Overall, it’s a good place to get drinks. My friend from Japan liked his whiskey cocktail. The food is pretty good (at least inventive), but if you’re there for drinks and chicken fat French fries, you can’t go wrong.
